Balancing Act

Time Management is a term we have heard at all stages of our lives. Considering how limited the entity is, it’s only fair that we utilize it efficiently. People started working on this in the early 1900s and they continue to contribute novel techniques of making the best use of time.

With a few limited hours in the day and quite a few domains in our lives, it becomes almost mandatory to find a solution that perfects the Work-Life balance everyone talks about.

In these COVID times, most of us find ourselves restricted to our homes. With saving all the time that was otherwise spent traveling to work, going out for social gatherings, shopping for household items, etc, it is natural to have more time to achieve that work-life balance.

Then why is it that we find ourselves drowning in work now more than ever? Why do we feel exhausted all the time? Why is our sleep schedule all over the place? The obvious answer is that living in a pandemic has taken its toll on us, we are constantly in a state of worry, panic, and/ or fear about what comes next. The uncertainty of the future is certainly getting to us. While this is an absolute hundred percent true, it's also important to realize that the not-so-obvious answer lies in our blurred boundaries of work and life. Since we're at home, all the time seems to be both - work time and personal time. Waking up whenever, staying up late to finish the work and the unending online meetings. This has caused us to forget the usual work timings we had and adapt a 24*7 work timing. Our shifts have increased from the regular 9 hours to 12 hours without us realizing it.

That is why Time Management becomes crucial, in times like these. To help you manage your time better, we are introducing you to Eisenhower's Time Matrix.

This will help you prioritize, plan, delegate, or eliminate the work accordingly. We tend to get caught up in the list of things to be done, but don't realize that not everything needs to be done immediately, or only by you.

Dividing tasks like this will help you understand what requires to be done on a certain workday and what can be done on the next, what can be done by you or by someone else. It will help you get back to the normal working hours while devoting time to yourself and your personal life.

It is important especially in tough times like this, to take care of your physical and mental health.

Hope this matrix helps you in managing your time better and reaching that work-life balance!
